It’s hard to give students enough practice at the skills that matter most in working life — public speaking, handling difficult conversations, thinking on their feet. Bodyswaps' newest update makes that practice even more accessible for students and easier to set up for educators. With our new Public Speaking roleplay, an AI Coach for our roleplays, a dental environment for healthcare programmes, and a tool to preview and test scenarios before they go live.

Public Speaking Training for Every Learner

Bodyswaps has always included a public speaking simulator as part of our scaffolded learning modules. In 3.6, we've rebuilt it as a standalone AI roleplay — the same premise, but now fully customisable. Learners practise their public speaking skills in front of a virtual audience, then field questions from them.

Educators, you set the scene — environment, duration, audience type, question difficulty. Then let your learners try, practise, and repeat.

The environments on offer are an updated auditorium alongside the existing classroom, boardroom, and public forum, perfect if your programme involves presenting to large groups.

After the presentation, learners get personalised feedback. This will always include feedback on their clarity of language and reasoning. In VR, eye contact and body language are assessed too. Plus, educators can also add up to three custom criteria

The Q&A is generated from the content of the learner's speech, so it's always contextually relevant. Difficulty levels range from supportive questions at the easier end to direct challenges at the harder end.

AI Coaching That Closes the Reflection Loop

We designed our AI coach to address something we kept hearing: learners finish a roleplay, get their feedback scores, and move on. Learners struggle to engage in the reflection that turns a practice into actual learning, because there's no one there to prompt it.

The AI coaching session is an optional scenario that you can add to the end of any of our AI roleplays. It asks the learner a series of questions, references their transcript and feedback where relevant, and guides them toward their own conclusions. Educators choose from five pre-written questions or write their own in Bodyswaps Go, and can control whether the session is skippable and whether the transcript is submitted to the learner report.

New Dental Treatment Environment

We've added a dental treatment environment to healthcare AI roleplays — a clinical setting for programmes where learners need to practise communication in a dental context. That might be breaking unwelcome news about a patient's treatment plan, managing an anxious first-time patient, or navigating a conversation with a patient who's resisting advice.

AI Roleplay Preview on Bodyswaps Go

Until now, the way to test a roleplay you'd built was to launch the app. That's fine once, but if you're iterating on a customisation or checking a new one before assigning it to a cohort, it adds up.

AI Roleplay Preview lets educators run through a roleplay directly inside the Bodyswaps Go builder — by voice or by chat — and get back a sample learner report. You can check how the AI responds to different inputs, see what feedback it generates, and adjust the customisation before any learner touches it.

Also in This Release

  • New avatars across three modules: Active Listening in Healthcare, De-escalation, and Open Conversations
  • Option to let learners speak first in roleplay — a small change that makes a difference in conversation flow
