Who is it for?
This module is designed to help all those who work in supportive care facilities to more effectively deal with responsive behaviours.
Scenario
Guided by Olivia, learners will journey through two immersive scenarios where they can practise and develop de-escalation techniques.
Learners can choose to work with either Nancy, an older woman living with dementia in a long-term care home, or Johnny, a young autistic man in a group home. Or they can complete both, honing their skills across multiple settings.

Learning objectives.
Across the activities offered in this module, learners will have an increased understanding of how to:
- Detect signs of escalating responsive behaviours
- Use verbal techniques to de-escalate the situation
- Support the individual while keeping themselves and other residents safe
