About

South Yorkshire Workforce & Training Hub supports learning and development across primary care roles in the region, delivering training across the multi-disciplinary teams working in General Practice.

Building on the success of their original Bodyswaps pilot, the team has expanded its use of VR and AI simulations to enhance soft skills development across a wide range of learner groups.

Goals

  • Tailor training more specifically to job roles and learning needs.
  • Expand their use of Bodyswaps across more programmes and professional roles.
  • Explore and deploy new AI-powered roleplays released in Bodyswaps 3.0 and build educator confidence in using simulation- based learning at scale.

Deployment

Building custom AI roleplays

Following the release of Bodyswaps 3.0, Liz began using AI roleplay templates to create tailored simulations, such as a job interview scenario for nurses and adapting active listening scenarios for general practice settings.

Expanding across the NHS

In addition to local delivery, the team is now supporting external partners by:

  • Delivering sessions for GP schools across the region
  • Preparing content for a psychiatry department in Wakefield
  • Supporting a GP school in the East of England by delivering and modelling best practice

Impact

The Hub now runs large-scale sessions with up to 40 learners, using Bodyswaps as a core part of their delivery. Key outcomes include:

  • All learners in the October and November sessions Strongly Agreed or Agreed that Bodyswaps enhanced their learning.
  • Learners reported improvements in consultation skills, communication, and active listening.

Future plans

The team plans to continue scaling and embedding Bodyswaps across the Hub’s programmes, with more sessions already
booked for the year ahead.
