Immersive learning positively impacts engagement, memory, confidence and performance. That’s why Bodyswaps, in collaboration with Meta, is giving 100 institutions the opportunity to empower students with immersive soft skills training. For free.

How it works

Entries for application are open from 16th November 2022 - 20th December 2022.

Once the application period closes, 100 tertiary education institutions will be selected to pilot the use of immersive learning to support soft skills training for their students.

Eligibility

The program is open to universities and colleges located in the US, UK, Canada, Switzerland, Norway and EU countries.

All applicants will be considered, however, institutions serving learners from underserved communities will be prioritized.

Timeline

Applicants will be notified of their application status on 23rd December 2022.

Grant recipients are expected to receive headsets in January, and will be supported through an onboarding process from January to April 2023.

Headset details

The headset package includes: two Meta Quest 2 headsets, charging cables, touch controllers, AA batteries, power adapters, and glasses spacers.

All successful applicants will be able to keep the headsets after the pilot program is complete.

Software details

Successful applicants will receive 3-month unlimited access to the entire Bodyswaps Library of soft skills training simulations to enable their students to experience realistic workplace scenarios and learn by observing their own behaviour.

Onboarding & support

Bodyswaps will support institutions with live onboarding clinics, regular check-in and deployment resources.

Throughout the pilot programme you’ll have a team dedicated to helping you and your students achieve your learning outcomes.

Research & Communication requirements

Bodyswaps will require institutions to capture anonymised data from students and educators for research purposes and reserves the right to communicate about the institutions’ acceptance into the programme.

FAQs

Universities and colleges located in the U.S., UK, Canada, Ireland, France and Belgium are eligible to apply. All applicants will be given full consideration. However, institutions demonstrating the following are more likely to be successful:
  • Institutions that serve underserved learners, especially those that have identified employability and communication skills as key challenges
  • Applicants who have buy-in from institutional leadership
  • Institutions that have defined plans to leverage immersive learning as a core component of their pedagogical approach
  • Institutions with educators that have the capacity to facilitate VR learning sessions with 200+ students over the course of the grant (3 months)
Yes. Although the headsets, software licence and support are included in the grant, we ask asking applicants to contribute to the setup and shipping logistics with a nominal fee of $250 / £200.

Yes! We’d love you to apply so we can keep you informed if the programme opens up to other regions in the future and/or accommodate other trial modalities in the short term.
Of course! The current accelerator programme is only open to Higher or Further Education institutions but we can keep you informed if the programme opens up in the future and/or accommodate other trial modalities in the short term.
No! As long as you can highlight in your application why having access to the headsets and software will accelerate your adoption of immersive learning your submission will still be valid.
Yes, we offer several affordable trial and pilot offerings, especially if you are already equipped with headsets or willing to try the non-VR format. Your can request a trial licence here.
With a view of producing a report at the end of the programme looking at both learning performance and educators' perception of the medium, we will ask selected institutions to administer a series of 3 short skills tests to students and an online questionnaire to educators. Additional data will be collected via the app itself. All data is fully anonymous.
