I recently had the chance to catch up with Paige from Moulton College. Since Moulton College officially started deploying Bodyswaps in the curriculum in March 2024 they have achieved over 400 sessions. I was keen to hear how they managed to scale up their deployment so quickly.

Paige works as a Careers Advisor with responsibility for overseeing the Bodyswaps programme, looking after the VR headsets allocated to the Careers Team. She is the main point of contact for course managers and lecturers to arrange Bodyswaps workshops and provides support to lecturers and students involved in the deployment of Bodyswaps.

Deployment at Moulton College

Moulton College chose to implement Bodyswaps with a VR-first approach, focusing on employability skills. Lecturers interested in using Bodyswaps for their students could coordinate with Paige to organise group workshops led by the Careers Team.

The college achieved 136 sessions in their first month alone. Paige attributes this success to the strong support from her management and the student experience team as this backing helped generate significant internal momentum and promotion for Bodyswaps.

Paige and her team actively engaged with staff through internal platforms, meetings, and leadership gatherings to inform lecturers about Bodyswaps' benefits and effectiveness in enhancing students' learning journeys.

They also showcased Bodyswaps during the college’s summer CPD day, allowing staff to experience a workshop first-hand. This experience helped staff understand the program's benefits and how it could be utilised for their students.

Additionally, the college’s marketing team raised awareness on social media and provided physical promotional materials like signage and roller banners.

The Bodyswaps Team is always on hand to help you promote your Bodyswaps program. If you head to the Communications Hub, you can access plenty of resources and graphics. You can also reach out directly to your Customer Success Champion if there is something specific you need.

Integration into the curriculum

A key factor in Moulton’s success was integrating Bodyswaps directly into the curriculum. The employability modules offered by Bodyswaps aligned well with the content taught in their Personal Development curriculum.

Paige and the Careers Team highlighted this alignment to Personal Development tutors, demonstrating how Bodyswaps could supplement their sessions. This integration encouraged more staff to sign their students up for Bodyswaps sessions.

Data dive

During this period, the Job Interview Simulator was Moulton's most used module. According to learner feedback, only 42% of participants initially felt confident in their ability to answer interview questions when they began the training.

However, by the conclusion of the program, a remarkable 69% of learners reported feeling confident, marking a significant 27% increase in self-assurance. The training also led to a notable 20% increase in students' confidence in using mindful breathing techniques to manage stress and anxiety.

Future plans

Looking ahead, the Careers Team plans to run Bodyswaps workshops throughout the academic year, enabling lecturers to organise sessions for their students. They’re also aiming to deploy the remaining headsets across different curriculum areas, training lecturers to run Bodyswaps sessions independently.
